Vlychada Beach lies isolated, 12.5 km from the port of Gavrio. It is a north-facing beach of sand, fine pebble and deep-blue water, essentially a large bay split in two by a rock.

The beach is organized, with two lovely bars, and is suitable for younger children. The two ends of the bay cast natural shade for much of the day, though it is wise to bring an umbrella too. It begins with sand and ends in fine pebble that continues into the sea; the water is shallow, with rocks in places, so take a little care. With the right gear it is also good for fishing.

Access is by dirt road from Mermigies, worth a visit in its own right. Like many Andros beaches it is not the easiest to reach, but the reward is real — and you will rarely find a crowd, except perhaps around mid-August.
