How to get to Andros

How do I get to Andros? Here you will find all the information you need to reach Andros, the beautiful and unique island of the Cyclades. Andros is located in the northern part of the Cycladic island group, 37 nautical miles from Attica and the port of Rafina.

Geologically, the northern tip of the island appears as a natural extension of Evia, with which it was once connected as a single landmass (the Kafireas Strait, also known as Cavo D’oro). At its southern end, Andros is separated from Tinos by a narrow strait, where the two islands are less than one mile apart.

How to travel to Andros

Andros is connected to Attica via the port of Rafina, with ferries arriving at the port of Gavrio. The journey takes only two hours on a conventional ferry. There are daily ferry routes, with increased frequency on weekends and during the summer months. The island is also directly connected to Tinos and Mykonos with daily routes, and to Syros and other Cycladic islands with less frequent sailings.

Athens International Airport is located approximately 10 kilometers from Rafina. You can reach Rafina by bus, which departs from the “Nomismatokopio” metro station in Athens.

Transportation within Andros is available via personal vehicles, the Andros KTEL bus service with routes connecting the villages, and taxis. If you wish to rent a car or motorbike, you will find rental services in Gavrio, Batsi, and Chora, the island’s capital.
