The Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi is the largest monastery in Andros, located between Batsi and Gavrio. Until 1928, it was a men’s monastery before being converted into a women’s convent. The monastery features Byzantine-style architecture, a remarkable library with rare books and manuscripts, and a museum housing religious vestments, artifacts, and even a collection of prehistoric tools.
The Archaeological Site of Ypsili is one of the most significant fortified settlements from the early Iron Age in the South Aegean. Discovered in the early 1980s, excavations have revealed important ancient ruins and numerous artifacts, providing invaluable insights into the Geometric and Archaic periods in the Cyclades and the wider Aegean. This site highlights the long and rich history of Andros.
