Description
Neiborio Beach lies to the left of Chora, just a few metres from its main commercial street — effectively the seafront of the capital. Its shallow sand, especially near the Nautical Club and sheltered from the wind, is ideal for small children. Once the island's cosmopolitan beach, it remains a reference point for Chora's visitors.
In its middle stands the rock "Tourlos", dividing it in two — sand on one side, pebbles on the other — a natural "sunbed" by day that takes on a seductive look at night. There are unique views of Chora's captain's houses mirrored in the water, the chapel of Agia Thalassini and the Tourlitis lighthouse. A small river from Lamyra empties here, flowing even in August.
It is fully organized: the venues along the seafront — restaurants, cafes, ouzeri and bars — offer umbrellas and sunbeds all along the beach, and there is a sailing school. From here the road continues to Stenies, Gyalia and Apoikia with its Sariza spring.
