Description
The 32nd PLOES of Andros, the long-standing visual-arts institution of the Petros & Marika Kydonieos Foundation, returns with its major summer exhibition «Anthropos en Eikoni: The gaze, the wear, and the truth of the image». Inspired by the psalm «Man walks through an image», this year's theme explores what hides behind the reflections and metamorphoses of the gaze — from Narcissus and Medusa to Byzantine literature and European philosophy.
The exhibition brings together 22 contemporary Greek artists, whose selected works open a dialogue around the horizons of the contemporary image: Achilleas Aivazoglou, Apostolos Vettas, Miltos Golemas, Vasilis Goumas, Giuliano Kanglis, Nikos Kanoglou, Nikolas Klironomos, Katerina Kontogiorgi, Maria Ktistopoulou, Stavroula Mitsakou, Achilleas Papakostas, Emilia Papafilippou, Lila Papoula, Argyris Ralias, Konstantinos Rammos, Aliki Rigou, Stefanos Rokos, Nikos Samaras, Giorgos Stamatakis, Maria Schina, Marios Fournaris and Giorgos Charvalias. The exhibition and catalogue are curated by Athena Schina, art historian and theorist of culture (NKUA).
Opening: Saturday 25 July 2026, 20:00. Exhibition runs 25 July – 4 October 2026. Opening hours: 10:30–14:30 and 18:30–21:30 daily, closed Tuesdays. Petros & Marika Kydonieos Foundation, Chora, Andros.
