Description
Maria Tiniakou grew up and went to school on Andros and returned to the island to offer modern, science-based nutrition services to the local community. She holds a degree in Clinical Dietetics – Nutrition from Queen Margaret University in Scotland and is a licensed clinical dietitian – nutritionist.
During her clinical practice she has worked both in private dietetic offices and in hospital environments, such as “Alexandra” General Hospital of Athens and “ATTIKON” University Hospital of Athens.
She has been trained in communication practices and wellbeing by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, as well as in the management of eating disorders, obtaining the Master Practitioner certification in Nutrition Intervention for Eating Disorders. In addition, she has been trained in anthropometry through the International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK), and has completed specialised postgraduate training in sports nutrition with the Academy of Sports Nutrition in the United Kingdom.
Her scientific activities include participation in pan-European programmes on sustainable nutrition, plastic reduction and tackling climate change, as well as an active presence in nutrition and dietetics conferences. She is a member of the Hellenic Dietetic Association and regularly attends seminars to stay up to date with the latest scientific evidence in her field.
Maria also writes for online media such as MAXMAG and Wellthy.gr, sharing practical, applicable nutrition advice with a wider audience. Her main interests include sports nutrition, eating disorders and irritable bowel syndrome, providing personalised nutrition plans both for people who wish to improve their health and fitness and for athletes of all levels.
