Description
For a wedding or a baptism on Andros, Lygizos Pastry Shop takes care of the sweet side of the celebration. It sits on the main pedestrian street of Chora, in a historic shop marked by the marble mosaic reading Athinaikon on its facade, and it keeps the island's authentic recipes alive, always built around the almond.
For the wedding day it makes the Glaso, the traditional Andriot wedding cake, finished with a light cream and white glaze. Beside it are amygdalota scented with orange-blossom water, the sweet long handed to guests at Andriot weddings, together with the classic cakes, the Nougatina and the Amygdalou, for the dessert table and the candy bar at the reception.
The same care goes into a baptism, with sweets made from fresh ingredients and local almond, beautifully wrapped to share with your guests. You will also find pastitsia and kaltsounia rich with local walnut and honey to accompany the day. Its spot in Chora makes it an easy stop to arrange the sweets for your own celebration in person, carrying the sweet tradition of Andros onto every plate.
