In collaboration with Poreia Theatre, the Festival hosts the premiere of one of Samuel Beckett's greatest works, directed by Dimitris Tarloou, artistic director of Poreia.
"Happy Days" (1961) is one of the most iconic works of the Theatre of the Absurd. At its centre is Winnie, a woman buried to her waist in a mound of earth, who insists on seeing each day as a "happy day." Through her radiant yet heartbreaking monologue, Beckett creates a profound meditation on habit, hope, loneliness and the persistence of life — all with his characteristic bitter humour.
A demanding and essential evening of theatre at the stone-built Open Air Theatre of Chora, from one of the most important Greek directors of his generation.
