Description
The Municipality of Andros is the single municipality covering the island of Andros and its neighbouring islets, within the South Aegean Region. With a total area of 379.21 sq.km and a population of around 9,221 residents, it serves as the administrative home of the entire island.
The Municipality is divided into three Municipal Units:
- Municipal Unit of Andros — seat in Chora, covering the central part of the island
- Municipal Unit of Ydroussa — seat in Gavrio, covering the north-western part
- Municipal Unit of Korthi — seat in Korthi, covering the south-eastern part
Its responsibilities include local citizens’ affairs, technical services and infrastructure maintenance, social welfare, civil protection and the management of tourism and culture. Citizens are served through three KEP branches (Citizens’ Service Centres): in Chora (+30 22820 360 201), Batsi (+30 22820 41848) and Korthi Bay (+30 22820 360 320).
