Description
The visual artist Christos Efstathiou raises essential questions and reflections through his work. Art attracted him from the first moment he understood the world. In primary school his games were creative: he would take small pieces of wood from his grandfather's carpentry workshop in Chora and pebbles, and build little houses and whole villages with squares and steps. His creations bear the personal truth and signature of the artist, highlighting his cult personality with a directness that truly impresses.
Style & subject matter. Influenced by the geometry of form of Yannis Moralis, Christos Efstathiou exhibits a different, entirely personal universe, with passion, sensitivity and inventiveness. He captures the dominant trends of contemporary art with a surrealist, direct and penetrating gaze. Following an abstract and minimal style, he nostalgically composes a world that speaks straight to the viewer's soul. He is a younger-generation artist who has already drawn the attention of the art audience, with notable reviews and publications in the foreign press.
Notable works & exhibitions. Works from his thematic series "The Age of Humans", "Frequencies", "Reconstruction" and "Profile" have featured in solo and group exhibitions in Greece (An-art, Neandros and others) and abroad (Denmark, United Kingdom), with excellent feedback. On Andros, his birthplace, the artist runs a permanent exhibition, this year unveiling new works for the first time. His pieces can be found at the Athens Concert Hall, the Artshop of the Museum of Contemporary Art Goulandris in Andros, the Michalarias Art Gallery in Kifisia, as well as in private collections.
