To Archontiko is a grill house in Gavrio, the port of Andros, one of the first places you reach as you come off the ferry. It is a new spot, built around charcoal-grilled meat and the spit.

The menu runs to souvlaki, skewers and gyros, wrapped in pita or served as a plate with chips and the usual sides, along with spit-roasted meats turned daily: lamb, kontosouvli, kokoretsi and chicken. Portions are generous and made with simple Greek ingredients. For larger spit-roast orders it is worth calling ahead.

To Archontiko also delivers to Gavrio and Batsi, so the food can reach your accommodation, the beach or your boat. You can also order takeaway and eat wherever you like, handy if you are staying at a campsite or a rental around the harbour. The kitchen works to order, so the food comes off the grill fresh. For those who prefer to sit down, there is space to eat in as well.

It sits in the centre of Gavrio, near the harbour where the ferries dock and a short distance from the beaches nearby, and is open every day from midday until midnight. For orders or delivery, a phone call is all it takes.
